AFI, which stands for A Fire Inside, is an American rock band from Ukiah, California that formed in 1991. Lead vocalist Favey Havok and drummer/ backing vocalist Adam Carson are the only founding members that remain. Since 1998, the band has also consisted of bassist/ backing vocalist/ keyboardist Hunter Burgan, and guitarist/ backing vocalist/keyboardist Jade Puget.
AFI has released eleven studio albums, along with ten EPs, one live album, and a DVD. The band first reached measurable commercial success with their fifth album, The Art of Drowning in 2000. They then broke into the mainstream upon the release of their sixth studio album Sing the Sorrow in 2003. With the support from the popular singles “Girl’s Not Grey” and “Silver and Cold,” the album peaked at number five on the Billboard 200 and remained on the chart for 51 weeks. Sing the Sorrow was certified Platinum by the RIAA in 2006 and is AFI’s best-selling album.
