Formed in Akron, Ohio in 2001, The Black Keys is an American rock duo consisting of Dan Auerbach (guitar, vocals) and Patrick Carney (drums). The two were friends in childhood and founded the group after dropping out of college. The Black Keys self-recorded and produced a slew of albums until their commercial breakthrough in 2010 with the song “Tighten Up” featured on the album Brothers. The album earned the band their first 3 Grammy Awards.
In 2011, they released El Camino which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album along with its hit single “Lonely Boy” won the band three more Grammy Awards. In 2014, they released their eighth album called Turn Blue which earned them their first number-one record in the US. After taking a short hiatus, The Black Keys returned in 2019 with their ninth album titled Let’s Rock.
Their newest album is called Dropout Boogie and was released on May 13, 2022. So far, the album has produced 2 singles; “Wild Child” and “It Ain’t Over.”
